I am a qualified and award-winning Architect with extensive and varied experience in commercial, residential and master planning work across the UK and overseas. I thrive on challenges in project management, design and problem-solving and have a real passion for detail.
I decided to establish my practice to pursue my vision of pushing the boundaries of design and showcasing how innovation can be affordable yet still highly distinctive.
Having completed my own self-build project on a tight budget, I can relate to the excitement of turning ideas into reality and witnessing the transformation of a space. At the same time, I understand the frustrations that can arise during the construction process and the importance of overcoming obstacles to achieve a successful outcome. This firsthand experience gives me a unique perspective and allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level. This is what motivates me. To provide the best guidance and support possible to others undertaking their own projects, ensuring they feel understood, supported and confident throughout the process.
After gaining extensive experience through years of employment in various companies in the UK and across the globe, I made the choice to return to the UK to establish my own practice. I began as a sole trader in 2000 and became a Ltd company in 2004. As Director, I invested significant resources in extending and consolidating my management skills, communication and knowledge base across the different disciplines, to provide a level of service that exceeds client’s expectations.
I also developed different models of project management, involving direct employees, associates and consultants to establish more efficient, effective and collaborative working environments in an ever, changing construction industry.
This website features a selection of projects designed by Fuzed Architects, highlighting just a few of the hundreds of projects we have worked on.
I was appointed by the company principal, Michael Ong, to establish the team and lead construction of the Palace of the Golden Horses Resort, in Kuala Lumpur as well as other smaller projects across Malaysia. This 500 bedroomed hotel and surrounding resort was being constructed for the forthcoming Commonwealth games that were held in Malaysia. The resort included a lake, shopping centre, cinema complex and golf course. The budget was 400 million Malaysian RG.
During my time at this practice, I took on a range of projects that spanned various contract forms, including design and build projects, refurbishments, listed building conversions/extensions and smaller specialized undertakings such as a museum, an aquarium and a religious temple. This experience provided me with a solid foundation for comprehending and overseeing construction practices.
My responsibilities encompassed conducting land/building surveys, creating sketch scheme drawings and models, handling planning and building permissions, and preparing detailed product information like working drawings, schedules and specifications. Additionally, I conducted on-site inspections and collaborated closely with clients throughout the project’s lifecycle. Furthermore, I managed the delegation of work to technicians, tender document preparation and contract administration.
This placement was to complete my Part 2 experience to qualify as an Architect where I worked on industrial and residential buildings and in particular the head office for Redrow
As part of my personal and professional development, I sought international experience and had the opportunity to work in this vibrant city practice located in Chicago. During my time there, I acquired valuable skills in model making , 3D visualization, and working collaboratively as an integral part of a design team.
The exposure to the dynamic design environment in Chicago allowed me to expand my expertise and gain insights into cutting-edge architectural practices. The experience of working with a diverse team of professionals enhanced my ability to contribute effectively to various projects and reinforced the importance of teamwork in achieving successful outcomes.
I successfully completed several conversion projects, which included working on Housing Association properties, as well as a unique butterfly and aquatic center.
The conversion projects required careful planning and attention to detail to transform existing structures into functional and aesthetically appealing spaces. Working on Housing Association properties allowed me to contribute to the creation of comfortable and affordable homes for people in need.
Undertaking the design of a butterfly and aquatic centre presented an exciting challenge, combining architectural innovation with specialized requirements to create a captivating and immersive environment for visitors.
These conversion projects enriched my portfolio and further honed my skills in adapting and repurposing spaces to meet diverse needs and create unique and impactful architectural solutions.
